The Parson’s Table

Parson's Table is held twice a year, coinciding with the International Furniture Market. During the spring and fall markets, over 100 volunteers prepare and serve homemade sandwiches, salads, soups, and desserts to hungry marketgoers in the downtown area of High Point.

Parson's Table began in 1978 when showrooms were first starting to open on Wrenn Street.  Some exhibitors soon realized there were no nearby food services for their clients.  A few of the showroom owners approached the ladies of First United Methodist Church and told them they would guarantee to buy at least 50 meals if the ladies would provide them.  Thus began a thriving venture for the UMW in their quest to support numerous worthy charitable projects.

Today the Parson's Table serves from 350 to 475 meals a day during the six days it is open during spring and fall markets. All proceeds from the endeavor go to missions such as Child Enrichment, the Open Door Shelter, Appalachia Service Project, ARC of High Point, and Community Care. Enjoy delicious food while helping us to support so many in the community around us!

Get involved

It takes many people to keep the ministry of Parson’s Table alive. We need people to wash dishes, bake bread, deliver food, and even taste-test the desserts!  We are confident we can find just the right job for you. Contact Lesa Pierce to get involved (pierce@northstate.net).
