Commitment 2027

When I think about First United Methodist Church of High Point, I think about a church that is thriving. We are rooted in God. We are growing in love. And we are thriving together as we worship, connect, and serve. Our church budget is more than a collection of numbers. Behind every number is a ministry, a mission, a person, or a life being touched by the love of Christ.

Through your generosity, we support ministries that help our church and our community thrive:

Family and Children’s Ministries: Vacation Bible School, Third Grade Bibles, Saints Alive, seasonal celebrations, transportation, and Child Enrichment Preschool

Youth Ministries: Retreats, Confirmation, curriculum and programs, and transportation

Music and Worship: Children’s Choir, handbell choirs, adult choirs, guest musicians, worship music, subscriptions, and piano and organ maintenance

Community Missions and Outreach: Open Door Dinners, Community Clinic, Naaman Recovery House, Liberia Mission, Backpacks/Back to School, Basin and Towel Mission, West End Ministries, UMCOR, Helping Hands Fund, Feeding Lisa’s Kids, Appalachia Service Project, Community Monthly Meal, and A Shared Blessing Food Pantry

The Good Shepherd Shop: Volunteers and financial support that provide clothing and other essentials to our neighbors in need

Program Ministries: Connection Ministry, Congregational Care, Hospitality Ministry, Bereavement, and Adult Sunday School

Supporting the Ministry of the Church: Office supplies, insurance, maintenance, utilities, telephone, alarm system, pension and health benefits, conference apportionments, salaries, FICA, and Medicare

When we look at these ministries, we see what our giving makes possible.

We see children discovering God’s love.
We see young people growing in faith.
We see worship that brings us closer to God.
We see meals shared and friendships formed.
We see neighbors receiving food, clothing, and care.
We see people serving others and putting their faith into action.

This is what it means to thrive together.

As you prayerfully consider your giving for the coming year, remember that your generosity helps provide the foundation for all of this ministry. Your gifts allow us to remain rooted in God, grow in love, and continue thriving together as we Share the Hope of Christ from the Heart of High Point as we Worship, Connect, and Serve.

Please consider increasing your giving so that we can continue to grow and expand God’s work through First United Methodist Church.

Enclosed is a Guide to Giving that may be helpful as you prayerfully consider your commitment for the coming year. Please return your pledge card so that we can better understand our anticipated income and make plans for the year ahead. Thank you for your generosity, your faithfulness, and the many ways you help First United Methodist Church thrive.

With Gratitude and Hope,

David Horney, Stewardship Chair
