Jeannie Applegate | Lay Leader

Jeanne “Jeannie” Noble Applegate’s story is woven deeply into the life of First United Methodist Church. Baptized here as a baby and confirmed with her Bible in the third grade, she grew up in Sunday School and MYF (youth group), learning and serving alongside friends who felt like family. Though college took her first to SMU in Dallas and then to UNC-Chapel Hill, and marriage to her husband, Tim, led them to live in California for twelve years, FUMC has always been home. In 1988, Jeannie and Tim returned to High Point, raising their four children in the same nurturing ministries of Child Enrichment and youth group that meant so much to her. Today, they are proud grandparents to five.

Tim has long worked in the restaurant business, including running a restaurant at HPU, while Jeannie has dedicated herself to helping others through her work as a Wellness Coach for Weight Watchers and as a certified Christian Life Counselor. Life in High Point (technically Davidson County!) keeps them busy, but Jeannie always makes room for the things that bring her joy—whether that’s cooking, running, tennis, pickleball, reading, or her very favorite: time at the beach.

Her journey is a beautiful reminder that while life may carry us near and far, the roots we plant in faith and community keep us grounded—and always bring us home.
